Tarbiyah Academy Parent Newsletter
Updates, Information, and Reminders for our TA Families
November 22, 2021
Assalamu Alaikum Dear TA Parents and Families!
I hope that this finds all of our families well and in the best of conditions!
We are very excited to wrap up our first academic term of the year and begin planning for and embarking on Term 2, starting on Monday, December 6th, insha Allah. Back in August, when we started to transition into full-time, in-person learning, we encountered numerous challenges and navigated unfamiliar territories that educators never expected to face, but I am truly proud of our entire community for the patience we had and the strides we've made since, alhamdullilah. This includes our students, parents, teachers, and staff and the collaborative efforts put forth by everyone to make the TA experience successful for our students. I appreciate you all so much. May Allah continue to guide us, bless our community, and help us in all matters, big and small.
As always, please do read ahead with pertinent announcements, updates, and reminders, and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Thank you and jazakum Allahu khairun.

In shaa Allah everyone had a great weekend and I hope this message finds you all well and in the best state of Iman!
Term 1 Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up soon. Conferences take place onsite Wednesday, December 1st and Thursday, December 2nd, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please note, both days are half days for students, and dismissal will be at 1:00 pm. Parents and students will get a chance to schedule a time to meet with their child’s Homeroom teacher, AQI teacher, Middle School Subject Teachers and Visual Arts Teacher (at separate times). Choose the correct ‘Tab’ with the teacher’s name when registering. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with dates and times.
For Term 1, Three-Way Conferences will be conducted, and students must be present. For more information on Three-Way Conferences and to register, please click on this link:

Lastly, due to the current pandemic situation, masks must be always worn in our school building. Also, we will be limiting the number of people in the front lobby and common areas. We ask that you remain in your car until your conference times.
Always feel free to contact me with questions or concerns.

TA Correspondence
BAND: Each grade level has a BAND group; BAND is mainly for sharing snippets of teaching and learning with parents; here is where teachers post pictures and sometimes videos of learning engagements. Teachers update BAND groups on a weekly basis. There is also a Parent Band group for all parents for posting reminders and sometimes, for sharing pictures and other information. If you are not on your child's grade level BAND group(s) and/or the Parents Band group, and would like to join, please contact Ms. Elkordy at gelkordy@tarbiyahacademy.org.
Email: Parents receive email updates from individual teachers about every 1-2 weeks. Email is also used by teachers and other staff members to send requests, updates, reminders, announcements, etc. to parents.
Head of School Newsletter: This newsletter is sent to parents about every 2 weeks, or as needed, and contains school-wide updates, announcements, and reminders for parents. If you are not receiving the Head of School newsletter, please contact me at hagaraboubakr@taribyahacademy.org.
Events Team Newsletter: The Events Team newsletter is written by our Events Team, Ms. Fatima Rafique and Ms. Munaza Khan. It is sent to families about once a month and contains important information around upcoming school events organized and led by the Events Team. If you are not receiving the Events Team newsletter, please contact Events@tarbiyahacademy.org.
Counselor Newsletter: The Counselor Newsletter is written by TA's School Counselor, Ms. Fatima Khan. It contains relevant information on the Social-Emotional Learning program here at TA. If you are not receiving the Counselor Newsletter, please contact fatimakhan@tarbiyahacademy.org.
Managebac: Managebac is the platform used by parents to view descriptions of lessons as well as grades and comments by teachers on your child's performance on some tasks. Managebac is updated weekly by teachers with grades and tasks. Managebac also has a feature where teachers can choose to alert parents when a grade has been posted. Some teachers may use this feature, so parents may also receive emails from Managebac as well, alerting them that a grade has been posted. Finally, Managebac is also used for behavior logs and for publishing report cards. Again, parents may receive alerts from time to time from Managebac alerting them of updates or postings. If you do not know your Managebac login information, please contact virtualhelpdesk@tarbiyahacademy.org.
Although not an official mode of communication for our TA families, we also have social media accounts managed by our Marketing Coordinator, Ms. Amina Jamil, where we share snippets of TA life and happenings with the wider community. If you are on social media, please do follow our pages as follows:

House System
As you may be aware, our school has implemented a House System in an effort to foster a student culture characterized by motivation, enthusiasm, community, school spirit, and excellent character. Every student and staff member is “sorted” into one of 4 Houses, and they remain in this house year after year, and for the entirety of their association with our school. The Houses are honored and named after the 4 Rightly Guided Caliphs, and their noble qualities. Each House is assigned a color as well.
Throughout the week, students earn House points for displaying excellent behavior.
About every 2 weeks, we hold a school-wide House meeting and assembly where House points are announced and Houses are also given tasks to complete together, in the spirit of healthy and fun competition. House meetings are a lot of fun and we all look forward to them!
Tomorrow, Thursday, November 22, insha Allah, we have a House meeting. Students may bring in an item the color of their House to represent their House during our meeting tomorrow, if they wish. This could be a scarf, beads or headbands for girls, pom poms, hat, etc. I want all families to know that students do NOT have to bring an item for House meeting, so please do not scramble to look for something. We have a House meeting every 2 weeks, so insha Allah, students can bring an item at any House meeting, and do not have to worry if they do not have anything tomorrow.
(Below) We keep a running tally of points earned by each house in our common area. This makes for healthy, fun competition among students and staff!
